Ivory Coast’s turnout confirms Ouattara’s landslide win despite opposition’s refusal to recognise

Ivory Coast’s electoral commission announced that President Alassane Ouattara has been re-elected to a controversial third term with 94 percent in a tense election, after opposition figures boycotted the voting, calling his candidacy ‘illegal’. The voting had already sparked deadly violence in the West African country, and two major opposition candidates announced they would not recognize Ouattara’s third term and will form their own transitional government, FRANCE 24’s Sam Bradpiece reports.
